Erb's Palsy

The majority of cases of Erb’s Palsy occur when excessive force is applied to the head of a baby during birth. Improper use of force leaves injuries to nerves that connect the dorsal spine to the neck.

Depending on the level of nerve damage, the result can be limited use of fingers, neck and shoulders of the baby. The face may also be affected and often the bone behind the shoulder appears like a wing resulting from damaged nerves. If the force is extreme, it can cause permanent damage to the nerves and other organs. Sometimes these injuries can heal over time with extensive therapy. Surgery to the nerves, bones and muscles can improve their function but often these children have permanent limitations.

If you think your child has suffered from Erb’s Palsy or Cerebral Palsy, you may have the right to compensation for their injuries.

Its important to know that there are statutes of limitation by law that determine the length of time allowable to file a claim. If you have suffered an injury, don’t wait longer to secure legal counsel.
