STEVEN M. FINK
Steven Fink co-founded Fink & Platz in 1995. He is an attorney who specializes in handling medical malpractice, motor vehicle, construction, lead, asbestos, premises, product liability, pharmaceutical, toxic tort, nursing home, sexual harassment, municipal and Fair Labor Standard Act/Employment matters. He is a well-regarded legal professional who has experienced significant success in these areas of law.
Steven Fink was born April 22, 1960 in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1982. He went on to graduate school and received a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law in 1985. In February of 1986 he was admitted to practice law in the state of New York and in January of 1989 to the United States District Court of the Southern District of New York.
In 1991 he accepted a position as an associate attorney at Schneider, Kleinick & Weitz, a prestigious plaintiff's person injury law firm. He remained there until 1995 when he decided to open a firm with his law partner, Harlan Platz.
He added to his accomplishments by being admitted to the United States District Court of the Eastern District of New York in 1996 and the United States District Court of the Northern District of New York in 2002.
Mr. Fink’s hard work and total dedication to his clients, together with his ability to repeatedly accomplish superior results in complex cases, has been certified by the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. These forums are limited to trial lawyers who have accomplished and demonstrated exceptional skill, experience and excellence in advocacy by achieving outstanding results for their clients in the amount of one million dollars or more. Mr. Fink has also been selected as a Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the State of New York by the National Trial Lawyers, a ‘Super Lawyer’, a Top Attorney in New York by the New York Times and a Top Attorney in the New York Metro area by the American Registry. Mr. Fink also serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Fink has lectured on medical malpractice and personal injury matters and has handled cases, as lead or co-counsel in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Florida, California, Illinois, Michigan and Texas. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, The New York State Bar Association and The Jewish Lawyers Guild. He also serves as a Board of Director for both Migdal Ohr, an organization serving disadvantaged children in Israel, and Lev Leytzan, an organization helping individuals who are in need of significant medical care.
Although he has a busy practice and is involved in many professional and personal activities, his first priority is spending time with his wife Mindy and their five boys. He also enjoys playing racquet sports and was a nationally ranked tennis and table tennis player. Mr. Fink speaks Spanish.
HARLAN A. PLATZ
Harlan Platz is an attorney and co-founder of Fink & Platz in New York. He specializes in handling catastrophic construction, lead poisoning, wrongful death, premises liability, motor vehicle and general accident cases for the firm. He is widely respected as a legal professional who delivers superior service and attains outstanding recoveries for his clients. He has established himself as a tough and skilled negotiator who is able to settle cases for maximum value. He is often called upon by other trial attorneys to negotiate cases on their behalf.
Mr. Platz was born June 13, 1962. He graduated from Harpur College at SUNY Binghamton receiving the Outstanding Performance Award in 1984. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree at St. John's University Law School in Queens, NY in 1987. From there, Mr. Platz quickly made entry into some of New York's most important legal circles. He was admitted to practice law in the State of NY in 1988 and the following year Mr. Platz was admitted to US District Courts for both the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Harlan Platz soon gained a position as an associate at a major Manhattan firm, which was once widely respected as New York's pre-eminent plaintiff's personal injury law firm. He worked there for six years, honing his skills under some of the legends in the personal injury field until he began his own firm, Fink & Platz, in 1995.
Mr. Platz is a member of the Cambridge "Who's Who" as a professional representing the personal injury law industry.
Mr. Platz is a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and has been named a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. This honored designation is given only to trial lawyers who demonstrate exceptional skill, experience, and excellence in advocacy. He has also been named as a ‘Super Lawyer’ and a ‘Top Attorney’.
